First Mug Rug

Something I have recently discovered in the quilting world in mug rugs.  I don't know if it is new to the quilting world if if it is just me, but they are cute and everywhere.  They are basically a half size of a placemat. It is somewhere you can put your mug and snack. I am assuming this is a big thing for ladies for thier coffee of tea. So I decided I wanted to try them out.
Here is what I came up with.

I like that they are so small that I don't have to make a big quilt just to try out a quilting technique or a particular square.
This also doubled as another project for Quilt Guild. Everyone was asked to bring orphaned quilt squares (quilt squares without a project) then everyone mixed them up and took one and was challenged to make something new out of it. So I can not claim the yellow and white square, but I can claim everything else about it. And I love it! Check it out in my Etsy shop.

This year in Quilt Guild the president is giving us a project to do every month. We actually go home with a quite a few each month. This was one of the from January. I finally got it hung up.

There is this little wall in my kitchen that has been bare since we moved in 7 years ago. I have a little idea that I want to make a few little seasonal quilts I can change out through the year. What I really want is a little shelf with a quilt bar on it that I can hang them up. But that might be a project for another day. Till then I will try and work on the quilts this year.
