So many custom orders!

I have gotten so many customs this month! Here are a few of them.

The boxes were all custom sizes, which I am always happy to do! The rice bags were specific colors, filling, or sizes. Those are always fun!

Custom orders

I got 4 custom orders last week, so I have been sewing up a storm!

It's fun to make things special for people, especially things I wouldn't usually make!

Like a box big enough to hold a child or two!

Safety Pin Mishap

This what a very lucky quilt looks like when a safety pin get ran over in a sewing machine. Luckily I didn't rip any holes, break my needle, or break my machine! I have learned my lesson!

Quilt Fest 2015

I learned so much at Quilt Fest this year! I took four awesome classes.

The first one was on landscape quilting. I forgot to take any pictures, but when my project is done I will have a cute little wall hanging with a picture of a cabin with the Teton mountains in the background.

Then there was a lunch time lecture by Lisa Bongean. She owns a store called Primative Gatherings and she does a lot of Wool Quilting. She does some amazing stuff. Maybe I will take a class on that next time.

Here is one of the quilts she has done.

Then I took a class on making a table runner that has a bunch of flowers appliquéd around the edge. I really want to hone in my appliqué skills. I learned some cool things like how to cut out 72 flower petals   fast.

Staples are so cool.

The next class was supposed to be a lecture on Glamping. (Glamour Camping.) They showed us some  cool projects and gave us a binder full of awesome ideas. That first twenty minutes was cool.

(Then for some reason it turned into a 45 minute lecture on confidence. Not what I signed up for. But the first twenty minutes was cool!

Finally I took a class on doing Celtic Knot Appliqué.

This lady does some amazing stuff.

Look at those amazing borders! It must have taken her forever!

I learned so much! I am looking forward to going again next year!

Damask Sage Green and Blue Quilt

One day a couple weeks ago, I was having quilting withdrawals. So i searched through my stash and found some fabric my sister had given to me so I whipped up this beauty! I love my sisters style and I love that I could just grab a handful of fabric out of the pile she gave me and know that it would all coordinate!

It is for sale in my Etsy shop. Have a great week!

HMQS 2015

I love going to the Home Machine Quilting Show each year. This year I took the day off work and brought my youngest daughter with me. She had her notebook in hand and was drawing quilts with me.

This year's theme was "It's Magic!"

I loved these quilts the most.

This is a queen sized quilt made out of one inch diameter hexagons. That is so much work! It is amazing!

This one won a prize right after I left. The next three pictures are the same quilt. and the frame is quilted too! Definitely some magic going on there!

Looking for some inspiration?

I read some blog post somewhere, or some podcast sometime, or something, about if you need inspiration you can just look all around you and just thing of it as a quilt and you will get some crazy ideas.

We recently visited some family in Germany and I loved taking pictures of everything. All for different reasons. Look at that scenery! Look how adorable the kids are! That shot would be great for a Christmas gift for someone! Or even, That would be a great quilt!

I will share some of my inspiring pictures to hopefully give you some inspiration!

Have you ever noticed how cool denim is close up? What great patterns and variations! Even pixil-ated it is cool!

So beautiful!

I loved all the cobblestone! It was everywhere!

 The old castles and rubble.

Look at that roof! It is hard to tell, but the tiles are argyle!
It reminds me of an Irish Chain.

The walk by the lake.

The church doors! Everything is ornate.

The stone work was everywhere!

Even the spiderwebs in the nasty roadside bathrooms were cool looking!

You can get your inspiration from anywhere. Just open your eyes and look.

My First Quilt Show

Bucket List Item #1 - Enter a quilt into a quilt show. Done.

It was Quilt Days put on by the Davis and Weber chapters of the Utah Quilt Guild. This is a curved log cabin. I took a class on it at Quilt Fest last year.  This was a good first timer show. It was people's choice, not judged. Now I just need to get up the confidence and enter into the county fair this summer.

Hexie Flower Quilt

This is a quilt I have been working on for at least a year. I would take the hexagon pieces to swim lessons and on road trips and, and camping trips and work on them when I couldn't be in front of my machine. I originally saw a quilt like this hanging on a wall of a local quilt shop. I loved how theirs looked! now mine looks totally different, but it is so bright! I have lovingly nicknamed it my Rainbow Bright Quilt.

Here it is in my shop! Have a great day!
